Professor Joseph Erume is Professor of Veterinary Microbiology at Makerere University. He completed his masters training in Veterinary Microbiology at the Royal Veterinary College, London and his PhD in Integrative Biomedical Sciences at the University of Nebraska, USA. He has a distinguished track record researching in veterinary microbiology, livestock infectious diseases (including salmonellosis, collibacillosis, paratubercullosis, erysipellosis) and zoonoses (including human brucellosis). He also brings expertise in the application of advanced molecular diagnostic technologies and serological analyses in epidemiological disease surveillance expertise. He is the Principal investigator of a multi country project aiming at initializing livestock brucellosis control in Eastern Africa.
