Dr Robert Ssekitoleko

Dr Robert Ssekitoleko completed his MEng Degree in Medical Engineering at Queen Mary, London and his PhD at the University of Strathclyde.  He is a leading early career academic in Biomedical Engineering, Makerere University, Kampala, with grants from EPSRC (EP/K027611), NIH and Duke University, who has strong links to Uganda Industrial Research Institute (UIRI) and he will help us to establish a small prototyping facility to make paper devices and assemble lateral flow assays demonstrating that the concept is possible. Over the last six years, he has been central in building capacity in the field of Biomedical Engineering in Uganda with activities involving training, project management, mentorship and research. He brings to this project expertise in leadership, mentorship, design and manufacturing of devices appropriate for low resource setting with special emphasis on early diagnostics of different diseases.
